Weekly Tips #20 - Don't be anonymous. Build an audience.

All Aboard Weekly Newsletter
Hey everyone, and welcome back to another edition of the All Aboard Weekly Newsletter!
Today I’m talking about something that I’ve been actively doing for the last 2.5 years —building an audience!
Everyone is talking about personal brands. You know using social media to drive business, becoming well know, and then monetizing your audience.
Building an Audience (or following) has a ton of benefits. Ones that you might not even realize and there are a ton of resources out there on how to do it, both free and paid.
The real goal for today is simple: to convince you to put yourself out there!
Whether that means sharing funny content, building your business in public, offering words of wisdom, or helping people in your community, it’s all a net positive.
You'll meet amazing people, learn a ton, and open more doors than you can imagine.
Lets dive in
Build an Audience in 30 minutes a day

For the best experience and most information, I highly suggest you click the video!
Why Build a Following?
Sometimes its easy to get caught up in a follower count - I say “who gives a shit?”
Give me a small, engaged audience over a huge following that doesn't interact or do business with me any day!
What building a following is truly about is creating relationships that will lead to people want to do business with you. How to do that? Simple….
ADD VALUE!
You don’t need to be a full-time content creator to build an audience. In fact, you can do it in 30 minutes a day or less (I show how in the video).
When you first start, it might take more time, but once you get into a routine, 30 minutes a day is all it takes. And no, it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Sometimes, it's five minutes here, five minutes there. It’s about making small, consistent efforts.
For instance, I’ll do a few comments between sets at the gym!
A truly important piece here is how we think about networking. So many people only think about what's in it for them. They reach out to people trying to figure out if that person can help them.
Can't help me, on to the next.
That's the wrong attitude. Take a genuine interest in learning about who people are and what they do.
Can't help you? Great!
Be a connector and connect them with somebody who they can add value to!
It will all come back around.
The 7-11-4 Rule for Building Relationships
One of the best tools I ever learned about was 7-11-4.
In the world of building an audience, its a framework that I keep in mind. It was originally coined by Google. It says that people feel like they know you after…
7 hours of interaction before someone feels like they know you… in
4 locations (digital or physical) where they interact with you…. across
11 touch points to establish a relationship.
In the world of content creation, these hours and touchpoints add up fast.
Videos, newsletters, social posts—all of these interactions are building those relationships. Even if you’re not face-to-face, you’re still racking up that “relationship” time.
If you've been reading my newsletter for a while, then you probably feel like you know a lot about me, and that would be accurate!
Consistency wins!

Need some extra help?

This was me about two weeks ago on a call with The Insurance Creators.
I presented on this same topic, but it was about an hour long and 30 slides deep. You know… ALL the sauce.
If you’re needing some extra help, consider joining this incredible group.
There is a free community on Facebook called “Social Media for Insurance” agents you can check out and get tons of free help as well.
But if you want to get focused, intentional help, the mastermind is a great way to go.

The Balance Between Local and Global
Here is my bold prediction: With the rise of AI, local and in-person events are going to make a huge comeback.
AI is becoming sophisticated. It won't be long until the video that you see on the internet could be completely fake, or the voice that you hear in a podcast is completely computer generated.
People are going to crave authentic, human interaction more than ever. That is my prediction.
So, what do you do with this information?
Show off your authentic, unique voice in whatever medium you feel most comfortable with.
Don't only build your audience online, but get active in your community as well.
For instance, I want to meet more local business owners, so maybe I start a podcast interviewing other entrepreneurs around the Atlanta area.
The Power of Delegation: Virtual Assistants and AI
Content creation can be a lot, and a VA can be your best friend when it comes to managing your workload. I personally rely on a few virtual assistants a help with tasks like:
Scheduling posts.
Research: Finding posts that are relevant for me to comment on.
Content creation: Creating graphics that I can share to support my written posts.
Delegating tasks to a virtual assistant helps me stay consistent without burning out. If you’re just starting out, consider testing the waters with a virtual assistant or AI tools to manage your efforts.
Just Get Started!
The key to building an audience is consistency + being your unique self. You don’t need to create viral content to see results. Just keep showing up, adding value, and engaging with your community.
Whether you’re posting, commenting, or just interacting in groups, it’s all about building relationships over time.
Don't worry about what's in it for you. That will come around and take care of itself eventually.
So go ahead, start putting yourself out there. It doesn’t have to be perfect—it just has to be real. The doors that will open for you, the relationships you’ll form, and the things you’ll learn about yourself will be worth it.
