All Aboard - 1:1 Opportunity

1:1 Changes are upon us! How you can maximize your positioning.

The All Aboard Newsletter

Hey everyone, and welcome back to another weekly edition of the All Aboard Newsletter! I hope you all had a great start to the year and are getting back into the swing of things.

I’ve been spending a tremendous amount of time talking about and preparing for the TCPA changes around 1:1 consent that are coming. These changes take effect on January 27th.

Next week, starting Monday, January 13th, many lead providers will be switching over their forms from third-party consent to first-party consent.

The deadline is now right around the corner. So today, I want to talk about how to best position your agency in this new landscape to maximize your agency’s brand equity.

Maximizing Opportunity in a 1:1 Change Environment (TCPA)

Understanding the Difference: Third-Party Consent vs. First-Party Consent

Here’s the key change: As it stands, third-party consent has allowed lead generation companies to generate leads without the consumer knowing exactly who would be reaching out to them. They prospect has agreed to receive calls, texts, and emails, but has had no control over who those communications would come from.

Thats changing.

With first-party consent, the consumer now has more control. They will be able to choose who and how many people they want to hear from. For example, a customer might select a carrier like Allstate, State Farm, Progressive, or Geico. Maybe they select a combination of companies, or simply click “select all.” The point is, they get to choose who they hear from and how.

How does it affect us?

Here is what I expect to happen: Lead volume will drop. As the cost per lead rises, we’ll need to ensure our quote rate, contact rate, and close rate improve to keep our cost per acquisition the same (or better).

I believe we can make this work, but just waiting for the change to magically improve lead quality isn’t a great strategy. While everyone says they think lead quality will improve, I’m not convinced. I’m hopeful, but hope isn’t a great strategy, so we’re taking action to impact conversion and the overall consumer experience.

We need to take proactive steps to position ourselves as credible, reliable, and easy to find when a consumer selects us. So, here are three tips we’re using at Peachy Insurance to do just that.

1. Avoid Being Flagged as Spam and BRAND!

One of the biggest issues with outbound calling is getting flagged as “spam likely” or “telemarketer.” Data shows that when your number gets flagged as spam, you might only get a pickup 1 in every 30-40 calls. So, if you’re making 400 calls a day, that’s only 10-12 conversations. Unless you’re converting 100% of pickups to quotes, thats not going to cut it.

To combat this, we use technology to ensure we don’t get flagged as spam AND we’ve implement branded caller ID (You can see what this looks like in the video). This technology registers and whitelists our phone numbers with the carriers. Plus, we call, instead of seeing a number they don’t recognize, they see “Peachy Insurance.”

Branded caller ID boosts our pickup rate significantly—from 1 in 30 calls to 1 in 7-8 calls. Thats a staggering difference. On a 400 call day, thats a difference of 35+ pickups. What would your numbers look like if you had an additional 35 at bats a day on your leads?

If you haven’t implemented a strategy for managing spam flags, reach out to me. We offer spam remediation through Next Call Club, and I can help you decide if this is something that makes sense for your agency or if I should refer you to another company to solve this challenge! If you’re not sure if you’re flagging spam, we can help you find out (and won’t charge you).

2. Be Easy to Find Online (Like Deion)

Once a consumer hears from us, they might not pick up the phone right away. But what happens next? We’re consumers too right? What do we do?

We go online to Google, Yelp, or Apple Maps to look up the company. Why would a prospect be any different?

So, when someone searches for “Peachy Insurance,” what do they find?

We work to ensure that Peachy Insurance appears at the top of search results, and that our website is visible and well-optimized. In fact, we go a step further by using google ads to bid on our own name (Peachy Insurance) so that we’re always front and center. This is where having a personal website can make a big difference.

Having your own website—separate from the captive brand you might represent —gives you control over the prospect. You get to control that lead. You want potential customers to find you (not the company you rep), your services, and your reviews, not a third-party corporate site. This gives you credibility and the chance to stand out from the competition.

And its important to know that if you have an effective Search Engine Optimization strategy, more people are going to find you. For instance, we’re ranking #1 on google for a few locations in Georgia. So when someone types in “[city] auto insurance” and Peachy Insurance is the first result, people end up creating a lead on our website. And those leads from our website? Yea, they close at 4x that of a standard internet lead.

People always ask me, how do you find what keywords to rank for on google? For that, we use Ahrefs who is actually sponsoring this week’s newsletter.

Ahrefs has a tool that allows you to put in keywords like “insurance” or “home claims” and find all the types of similar things people are searching PLUS how many people are searching them. So if you find 3,000 people a month in your state are searching “Does Home Insurance Cover Broken Windows” - You might put a FAQ on your website answering that question or an article about why they are (or are not) covered.

Its an amazing tool and I would really encourage you to check it out. Its not nearly as complicated as it sounds and is going to be a key tool I use in 2025 to insulate myself from 1:1 changes. Here to be a resource if you have questions on Ahrefs. The sponsors keep the newsletter free, so click below to learn more!

3. Leverage Google Reviews to Build Trust

One of the easiest ways to build credibility is through reviews and testimonials. When someone searches for your agency online, they’ll likely check your Google reviews. It’s essential to have a solid review presence, as it helps build trust and shows that you’re a reliable, professional business.

More reviews are always better, and I recommend you aim to have hundreds of reviews, even if your rating is a little lower than perfect. A higher number of reviews gives your agency more credibility than a perfect score with only a few reviews.

I’d rather have 1,000 reviews with a 4.0 rating, than 60 reviews with a perfect 5.0 rating.

If you’re not convinced your google page is valuable, put a trackable number on your page. We did this and found we’re getting over 1,000 calls per month from our google number (mostly service). This allows us to track how many calls are coming through Google and gives us insights into where our leads are coming from, helping us refine our marketing strategies.

We had no idea the power of branding until we found that internet leads were calling us back on our google number. These are the types of insights that you can start to derive when you start tracking your data effectively!

Drive those google reviews! I talked about how we’re doing it in our 2025 Strategy video a few weeks ago.

The Marketing Funnel: Awareness, Consideration, and Conversion

To wrap this up, think about the marketing funnel as a whole: awareness, consideration, and conversion.

We focus so heavily on the conversion stage that sometimes we forget to think about how all our marketing works together.

If someone gets a piece of mail, a voicemail, a phone call, an email etc from you, don’t you think they might do some research? What happens if they research you and they can’t find you? Or they find poor reviews? Or an unprofessional website?

These things matter and they all work together.

If you want to see some examples for each stage of the marketing funnel, check out the video as I lay them out there.

In Closing:

The one-to-one consent changes are coming fast, but we can take this as an opportunity to improve our agency’s positioning and brand. Don’t just wait for the lead quality to magically improve—take proactive steps to make sure your agency is credible, easy to find, and trustworthy.
